So as a disclaimer, I'd like to report that I would have remembered that today marked three years with Matt, even if two other people didn't already update about it. It has been a wonderful three years, and I would give up the chili dog I'm about to buy from a street vendor (and probably some other things) to be back in Sylvan with my wonderful boyfriend right now. Let's see whether I was this mushy when it all started....

Hmmm....so on reflection, I was more sarcastic and paranoid than anything. I guess some things don't change. Except that since I've started dating Matt, I've stopped updating my livejournal as much. Well, anyways, I <3 Matthew, and I hope that everyone has a lovely weekend!

Hi everyone, I'm still alive, although I don't use the internet nearly as much as I used to. I've been reading your ljs even if I haven't been responding. Feel free to comment sarcastically on this entry.

So, thank you, Liz, Elena, Jill, and Matt for remembering my birthday via livejournal.
I totally would not have known unless someone told me there was something exciting to look at in lj. Not having internet in my apartment is ROUGH. See, I'd check my lj at work, but apparently if you check any website while logged into a computer in a federal building, then the federal government tracks your activities and saves a record of the website and everything it says permanently. So I'm limiting my lj (and yahoo email and facebook and AIM) use to computer labs and wireless cafes. (There are actually a lot of computer labs and wireless cafes in my area, so it isn't THAT bad.)
In other news, I'm about a week and a half into my internship, I can't find my way anywhere in Cleveland, I've eaten a whole lot of beans because I actually know how to prepare them, and I'm puzzling my way through professional dress, but I'm having a good time. So far. I haven't actually started my rotations, where I actually go and talk to people and learn how to be a dietitian...so far I've been doing all this orientation stuff, like learning how to use the computer and taking drug tests and stuff. But the other people in the internship seem nice, and I'm getting along with my roommate, and my car hasn't exploded or anything, so it's all good.
Hope everyone is having a good end of the summer. Good luck starting all of your new classes and doing all of your other end-of-the-summer stuff!

So it's sad that I'm not the only person to update this, but I drove out to Ohio last week. Except I had a good reason. I'm here in Cleveland, at the Case Western medical library, updating my livejournal because I don't have internet in my apartment and I don't have a wireless password or whatever it is that I need yet to use internet sitting on a bench or whatever with wireless.
I started my internship today, and went through all kinds of federal hiring stuff, including fingerprints and providing phone numbers of people I know for a background check.
I'm starting at Case next week. And no, my financial aid is still not totally sorted out. But since we have a busy schedule, I'm not sure when that will happen (because according the financial aid online counseling website I was referred to, my school doesn't exist).
On the bright side, I enjoy my apartment greatly. Little Italy is a lovely place, possibly as pedestrian-friendly as Amherst, but with all kinds of interesting shops and stuff like that. A lot of good food. And they leave the doors open so you can smell the fresh bread as you walk past. My apartment itself is great, the bedroom is bigger than my room in Sylvan, and both bedroom and living room are larger than my bedroom. We have central air, the plumbing works, and so far I like my roommate a lot (having spent very little time with her).
So things are good. I'm missing internet a lot, but I think soon, I'll get down a system where I can use it more often. Once I get myself a little bit more organized, I'll email everyone I have an address for and let you know my new cell number and email address and street address. Until then, I probably won't have a lot of time for lj.
But right now while I'm typing, I better go see if anyone poked me on facebook. Have a lovely evening everyone!
So everyone, if Josh Evans and I were to have a joint party on July 8th, who would be able to come? It would probably be kind of late at night, starting between 7 and 8:30. Let me know what you think!

So the long-awaited moment...I checked the internship website, and I am going to the Louis Stokes VA Center/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio next year. I'm excited because it was my first choice, but a bit scared about leaving everything and everyone. So...that is that...
So far, I've had a great weekend with various fun activities. Now it's a beautiful day and I'm around waiting for the dreaded and anticipated event...internship matching at midnight.
So the thing is, I applied to four internships - in Ohio, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maryland - in that order of preference. And I can only get matched to one. So tonight I learn what state I'm living in next year, how tight my financial situation might be, whether or not I will be likely to be close by to my super-great boyfriend, whether I'll get a master's degree, and whether I can put off learning how to cook for myself for another year. Those of you who have been really keeping up with my life know all about this.
So, I've shaken off a lot of my anxiety about the whole thing, but it might come crashing back tonight as I sit at my computer and click the "refresh" button a million times on the internship notification website. It'll be pretty great.
You can plan on me back here in the middle of the night to discuss my results. Until then, I'm going to try to enjoy the long weekend!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTHEW! I hope you had a great day. To the rest of you, if you celebrate, happy Easter. Just got home from the Easter Vigil mass, so for us it is officially Easter, complete with SO MUCH junk food!
